Welcome!Message from Father Julien:Catholic Radio in North Florida is moving ahead! For those who may not know, in 1998 we began meeting and then formed a corporation, Spirit Radio of North Florida, Inc. to bring Catholic radio to the Diocese of St. Augustine and to all Catholics and Christians in North Florida. We have been meeting monthly at St. Patrick Parish in Gainesville, and also less frequently at St. John the Evangelist Church (now that's a good name for radio ministry). Yes, part of our programming will be in SPANISH. We have from the Federal Communications Commission a building permit to put a radio station on the air in Cross City. It will be FM and have 70,000 watts of power (or possibly more). This will reach to the edge of Gainesville and for 50 miles north and south of Cross City. We also have other stations applied for, but we must start building the Cross City station ASAP. Its call letters are WWLC and will use the name, Light of Christ. We are presently in negotiations for the purchase of property for our tower and transmitter. We have the approval and some solid financial support from the Diocese of St. Augustine and our bishop, Victor Galeone. We are looking for financial support and donations from all the surrounding parishes and other individuals and businesses. We also ask the prayers of everyone so our ministry will reach out to all Catholics, even the lax and fallen away and basically to all Christians, touching everyone with the love of Christ. If you would like more information or wish to join our ministry in some way, please call or write to me at St. Patrick Church, 412 N. E. 16 Ave. Gainesville, 32601, phone 352/372-4641. Our web site was temporarily off line, but is now up again with a new address: www.spirit-radio.org - bookmark the new address today! All donations are tax deductible can be made out to: Spirit Radio of North Florida, Inc. and mailed to the above address. Let's all look forward to a beautiful message on Catholic Radio 24 hours a day going all over North Florida. Blessings to all, Father Roland M. Julien, President Spirit Radio ------------------------------------- We're still organizing and constructing our website. Please use our feedback form if you have any comments or suggestions. God Bless! |
"To proclaim Christ in the media at the dawn of the new millennium is not only a necessary part of the Church's evangelizing mission; it is also a vital, inspiring and hope-filled enrichment of the media's message. May God abundantly bless all those who honour and proclaim his Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, in the vast world of the means of social communication." Pope John Paul II "If St. Paul were alive today, he would be on the Internet and on talk shows." Bishop Victor Galeone
