Still Looking for Some Real Estate

Spirit Radio searching for property to let us boost our power and build studios

Today's Date -- 12/1/02

PROPERTY SEARCH.  We have located the optimum location for our transmitter (tower).  It is 4 miles from our original application and further west from Cross City on the Horseshoe Beach Road.  The property is part of a much larger tract of timber land that is managed by Forest Systems, Inc. They have an office in Cross City and we are working with them to see if we can exchange some other property for the 10 acres we need for a tower.  We are actively pursuing leads to accomplish this.  If you can help, let us know.  We expect this cost to be between $15,000 to 25,000.

For those who do not understand, the location of the tower is calculated very exactly due to closeness to other radio stations on the same and nearby frequencies.  Also important is the height of the tower which cannot be too close to an airport.  We had to deal with both of these issues and now we have found the right location.  Let’s also pray for this property deal to go through.

STUDIO PLANS IN CHIEFLAND.  We were hoping to have a studio at St. John the Evangelist Church in Chiefland.  This would enable us to microwave to the transmitter in Cross City.  However the building code in Levy County requires that a tower be able to fall completely on your own property.  This would not allow us to put up a tall enough tower to reach Cross City, so we may not be able to use the church location for our studio.  We are hoping to apply for an exception from the FCC to put the studio here in Gainesville.  We are very grateful to Fr. Joe Maniangat and Jim Boyle who have been very helpful in dealing with these matters.
